L/O: to apply the theoretical framework to media texts.

Media Language

All the different elements used to create any media product.

Camerawork

The camerawork in a film is the way it has been filmed, especially if the style is interesting or unusual in some way. The director employs sensuous, atmospheric camerawork and deft dramatic touches. A camera movement refers to the way a camera shifts to visually narrate and shape a viewers perspective of a scene. In the world of film and video, there are several basic and advanced camera movements that can help enhance your story. Camera angle refers to the angle at which the subject is shot. Camera angles can have a particular effect on the audience. A camera shot is how much space the audience sees in a particular frame. An establishing shot in filmmaking and television production sets up, or establishes, the context for a scene by showing the relationship between its important figures and objects.

Soundtrack

Soundtrack includes all sound heard in a film/tv show like music, sound effects, dialogue and voiceover. Diegetic sound is a noise which has a source on-screen, they are noises which have not been edited in, for example dialogue between characters or footsteps. Another term for diegetic sound is actual sound. Non-diegetic sound is a noise which does not have a source on-screen, they have been added in.

Editing

Editing includes all the post production work on a moving image. Transitions, pace and speed of cuts, cgi, green screening and graphics all come under editing.

Mise-en-scene

It is the arrangement of the scenery, props, etc. on the stage of a theatrical production or on the set of a film.
